Living In Mexico With Lenny And Bubba

I have the very worst luck with getting wrong-number phone calls, no matter what country I live in. Believe me, when we moved to Mexico, the problem didn’t get any better.

When we lived in Overland Park, Kansas, the wrong numbers started the very day we moved in and had our phone connected. Someone, no, I mean thousands of people, began calling for Air-Tech Technologies. The company title is a redundancy, I know, and perhaps that’s why at least seven countries were hunting down the CEO of this business to beat him senseless for that name, but no!

Songwriting - What Is It Really?

Lets look at the word SONGWRITING.

The dictionary meaning is ‘writing the music and words of songs’ so that gives us a clue but it doesn’t go deep enough. I propose the meaning should be something like this:

“The process in which a song is created using words and melody”

The word itself is comprised of two words, song and writing. The song part is the end result of a process and the writing part is the process.

Get it!! Without the writing there is no song.

Upper Back Tattoos- An Ideal Introduction To Body Art

The human back makes an ideal canvas for a tattoo artist’s needles. If you are considering your first tattoo could do worse than to have it be an upper back tattoo. Why?

Upper back tattoos can range from small and simple to large and elaborate, and can stand alone or be the foundations for larger and more elaborate tattoo work if you like the outcome and want to add to it. Upper back tattoos are, more often than not, covered in indoor settings so they won’t be an issue in professional environments.

Number 1

I step off the N train at the last stop. It’s almost as if I’m on autopilot because of the number of times I’ve done this. This year, however, is different. This is my last year to bask in all the glory, mayhem and life that is Coney Island.

Don’t get me wrong, it will still be here next year. I mean, hell, it’s a town. There will always be something named Coney Island in Brooklyn. But after this year, the history is gone. It becomes a cookie-cutter, cheap-ass, Great Adventure knock-off where circus freaks who shove knives threw their tongues are replaced with literal clowns making balloon swords for upper-class brats on day trips.

From Zero To Guitar Hero - Progress And Motivation While Learning Guitar

I have found that with many of my students that the number one obstacle to learn how to play guitar is motivation. We begin to learn to play but it just seems too hard to do. It does not seem like we are ever going to make any progress. Our fingers hurt and hands are cramping up and it is just not fun to play yet. We are not playing any real songs yet because we are trying to just get a chord down and of course the instructor wants us to play scales or some song we’ve never heard of. Motivation is most definitely the key to success in any endeavor and learning how to play the guitar is no exception. There are a couple of effective methods that I have learned to use with my students when teaching guitar lessons in order to help with these motivation issues.

Prospector Sam - The Famous Tenderfoot Miner

There were many thousands of tenderfoot, greenhorn prospectors that came out west in the 1860s and 70s. Some came to make their fortunes, some came to flee other problems back east, and some just came for the adventure. Probably every one had a tale to tell, but one of these adventurous individuals was a young man named Sam Clemens, and this is his true story. In his early 20’s, Sam had fulfilled his childhood dream of becoming a riverboat captain, and was making a very fine salary until the civil war broke out. In fact, when he was a riverboat captain, he boasted that he made more money that the Vice President of the USA. Unfortunately, Civil War military blockades ended the lucrative river trade along the Mississippi River, and the once wealthy Sam found himself out of a job. Good things seemed to pop up for Sam, and in the spring of 1861, Sam’s older brother Orion was appointed by president Abe Lincoln as secretary to the Governor of the new Territory of Nevada. Sam decided to tag along as Orion’s assistant. Luckily for us, Sam wrote letters to his family back east and kept notes of his adventure – he later wrote a book about his years living in the wild west.
