What Is Imperial Formosa Oolong Tea?

Oolong teas are rapidly gaining popularity in the Western world. And, among oolong teas, those created in Taiwan, referred to as Formosa oolong teas, are some of the most delicious. If you haven’t tried Formosa oolong tea, you’re in for a real treat.

Oolong teas originated in China. Oolong literally means black dragon. However, the tea is often referred to as Wulong tea, a name that originated with the person believed to have created this tea. Wu Liang was a Chinese tea gardener, who, according to Chinese legend, was busy collecting and processing tea leaves when he spotted a river deer. He stopped to kill and prepare the deer and it interrupted his tea processing for the day, and he forgot to dry out the leaves.

This is a computer animated cartoon for preschoolers. Rolie Polie Olie is a preschool aged robot and his entire family are robots. In fact just about everyone on the show is a robot. Taco Bell - Top Underrated Spot

No, I’m really not kidding. I have a theory that all the hate that exists for this fine establishment originated in the days of old and people have not fairly readjusted their views. I might even throw Taco Bell’s menu on a list of most improved over the past 5 years. Everytime I look up there are new items and it seems they are all straight gold.

Unfortunately, I no longer live in the near vicinity of this glorious spot, but recently I found myself once again entering the storied walls. It was a stirring experience bringing back memories of first jobs and glorious meals alike. While old favorites like chili cheese burritos, soft tacos, and gorditas still grace the menu, my focus these days tends to be on the newer items.

Wheyvit - The Wonderful Milk Beverage!

The whey which is obtained as a by-product of cheese making (paneer / channa making in India) has long been since employed in the production of fermented beverages, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic.

Recipe for wheyvit / Method of manufacture

  • To prepare wheyvit, whey is the raw material required. Fresh whey obtained from cheese making or channa or paneer preparation is passed through a clarifier to remove the sediments and the clarified whey is then steamed for 30 min in a double-jacketed vat.
  • It is cooled to room temperature and kept overnight to allow the precipitated proteins to settle down and then filtered through a muslin cloth.

My mother’s parents were English and many of the meals she fixed for us reflected this heritage. Christmas dinner was always roast beef and Yorkshire pudding. Dessert was always plum pudding with warm sauce. There are many recipes for plum pudding and all are labor intensive. Mom made plum pudding from scratch a few times, but it was so much work she finally bought Crosse and Blackwell pudding imported from England.

I’m not talking about a 99-cent candy bar, but premium, all natural, gourmet chocolate. It’s all the rage and with more science linking health benefits to eating chocolate, one can argue it’s now good for you!

This attention on premium chocolate has elevated it to star status on “hot” restaurant menus around the country, usually paired with a wine recommendation. So how can you replicate that experience for your next dinner party? We asked Chef Richard Kaplan, founder of artisan Brown Paper Chocolates, for his tips when selecting a wine to pair with gourmet chocolate.
