Top Reasons Why Im A Coffeehouse Lover

There are many reasons I’m a coffeehouse lover. First and foremost, I’m a writer. To me, there is nothing more relaxing and conducive to creative juices flowing than sitting in a comfortable, overstuffed chair with a hot cup of coffee or tea by my side.

The service at coffeehouses is amazing, and the people there are always smiling and cheery (even at the God awful hour of 6 am). Also, I get something at coffeehouses that I can’t get at home: a decent espresso drink. I don’t have time to deal with foaming and frothing milk, nor do I want the hassle of steam burns and a mess in the kitchen.

Prohibition Of The United States Of America

The Volstead act or (Prohibition act) took effect in 1920, in several states across America laws were already in place to try and stop the consumption of alcohol, these laws were in effect before the 18th Amendment (Volstead act, Prohibition act) was passed before congress.

New York was the 1st state to have any such laws passed in the year 1697. This law simply stated that all saloons and drinking establishments must close on a Sunday as a Sunday is revered as a day of rest and prayer and not drinking. Then in 1735, the government introduced its 1st state wide ban on alcohol in the state of Georgia which absolutely failed and only lasted 7 years until 1742.

The Aromatic History Of Coffee

Did you know that the coffee plant actually grows into a tree? The coffee tree is an evergreen tree. Its broad leaves are a very shiny green with pointed ends that are sleekly reminiscent of arrowheads. Their leaves grow in pairs one on each side of their long thin branches as they flower and seed from the base of each pair of leaves growing along the stems or branches. Their tiny blooms flower into five petals with yellow stamen, as the seedpods progress into berry like cases for the seed. Inside each seed, two beans are usually found these beans are what are used to make coffee. The berries of the coffee plant can display as green in unripe berries, red in ripe berries and black of over ripened berries. The coffee plant can be rooted from cuttings as well as grown from seed and thrives best in shaded areas.

Coffee Syrup - Is It A Liquid Wonder?

Coffee syrup has no nutritional benefit, not one I could find in my vast online investigations. In fact when researching this product, what I could find is a simple corn syrup, plus Flavoring recipe. Therefore, my next step was to see how simple this really was. I took simple household corn syrup, and then added some almond extract to it.

Then I slowly mixed this concoction to my hot coffee. I found that yes this worked. I had made my own coffee syrup. It mixed perfectly, no floating to the bottom of the cup, and it did not change the consistency of the beverage. I then started shopping, to see how much these liquid bottles of gold cost in the store. To my amazement, people can pay anywhere from $7.99 and upwards depending on the size and brand.

Drink A Toast To A Long Life

A recent study offers us a good reason to raise a glass to a long and healthy life each and every night.

A flavonoid called resveratrol, contained in wine, has been shown to lengthen the lifespans and vitality of chubby mice. Both white and red wine contain resveratrol, but red wine has about 10 times as much as white wine.

In a study conducted by Harvard Medical School and the National Institute of Aging, a group of year-old male mice was fed a normal diet, while another was fed a high-fat diet, and a third the same high-fat diet plus resveratrol.
