The Magic Word Is - Attitude

Our attitude towards life will determine what we get from life. Our attitude towards work and learning will determine what we can do well.

William James a Harvard professor said “the greatest discovery of my generation is that human beings can alter their lives by altering their attitude of mind”

First let’s look at our attitude towards ourselves. We take ourselves for granted. we believe that other people can do things that we cannot. Many people oppose change yet change in life is the one thing on which we can absolutely count.

Learning How To Become Smarter By Accessing Both Sides Of Your Brain!

If you want to learn how to be smarter one of the best to becoming smarter is learning how to use your entire brain. Now you might thinking, Joe what the heck are you talking about, of course I use my whole brain. Well guess what, you do not!

Most people are either dominate right brain thinkers or left brain dominate. Since I am left handed I am a right brain dominate person (very right brain dominate.) Typically if you are left handed you are a right brain, and if you right handed you are left dominate.

Three Valuable Life Lessons I Learned From Bob Proctor

Bob Proctor has been teaching success for many years now. I first heard about Bob in the mid 1980’s and a few years later attended my first “Born Rich” weekend seminar at York University in Toronto.

If you’ve ever had the pleasure of catching Bob Proctor live, you already know that he is an amazing teacher and speaker, full of passion, energy and insights. Now into his seventies, Bob Proctor continues to share his vast knowledge of human potential to an ever-increasing global audience, many of whom hadn’t even heard of Bob Proctor before the recent release of The Secret movie.

Kids And Exercise Machines

There is no real danger in kids performing machine based training under the proper supervision and appropriate guidelines. Many studies done the world over have concluded that strength based training programs done on this kind of fitness equipment is very safe for young children (again under appropriate guidelines). My issue is not whether or not kids CAN perform this kind of training, my question is WHY they need to.

Who Are You Going To Be?

We all face challenges in life. Whether it’s a career setback, a health concern, a relationship dilemma - or any other obstacle - I’m certain you’ve experienced a time when something didn’t go your way, didn’t go the way it ’should’.

Where we stumble is allowing our autopilot systems to flip on at the first sign of rough seas.

When this happens, some people lapse into complaining. Some blame. Others become insecure. Though the end feeling can vary, the common thread is a lack of control - which is often accompanied by a conditioned response we allow to overtake our spirits.

Stress Management - Spa Treatments In The Age Of Stress

We are now running around in a fast-paced world that still filled with weary, confused people who seem to have missed out on the benefits of science, technology and the million and one gadgets that promised to bring easy living.

It has become all too common to hear of people complaining about feeing harassed or stressed out because of the challenges everyday life. Stress affects people from all walks of life. From the plain housewife whose is trying to balance household chores, taking care of the children and being a loving wife to her husband…to the Sales Manager overseeing a group of sales agents while trying to meet the daily sales quota…to the ever-busy executive who burns the midnight oil just to finish the product presentation in time for the deadline…to the student cramming up for the exams and tons of other schoolwork.

Vision And Visualization - Finding Ones Voice Continued

Let us get down to the real basics about visualization. Most people really don’t understand this whole process. They think that all you do is “think” that you are a billionaire and presto there you are. Well that is not exactly how it works. You want to find the real “You.” There is something that you want to become.

The Learning Ear - A Leadership Lesson From Jazz

“The ear,” said jazz great Duke Ellington, “is the most essential instrument in the world.”

When I was doing the executive coaching program at Royal Roads University back in 2002, I remember Marj Busse introducing us to her favourite acronym – WAIT - “Why Am I Talking.” Now, for a Presbyterian preacher and former university dean and professor, that was a powerful challenge. It inspired me to start thinking about the skill of listening in a whole new way. What we can learn and provoke by considerate listening is crucial to the central task of leadership – doing your work through other people.

Take Two Seconds To Save Yourself Hours

If there is one thing which epitomizes modern life, it is that people are more busy nowadays than at any time in history. We seem to rush from one thing to the next without having the time to think. Or to breathe. Or at least so it seems.

The usual response to this problem is to try to find ways of fitting more in—of doing more in less time, or taking less time to do the things we need to do. This approach can sometimes work—after all if you improve the rate at which you work, you’ll certainly save time.

Positive Thoughts

A lot has been written about the effects of our thinking on our life. By now many people know that in some way or another their thinking affects their life.

We hear things like: “Think positive, there are two sides to the coin, the glass is either half empty or half full”. Does this sound familiar? And yet, how many people, including yourself, have you encountered who you would truly classify as positive thinkers? Probably not many, right?
