Deer Hunting Tips - Things To Avoid While Hunting
Here are a few things to remember when getting ready to hunt and while hunting:
There plenty of things to avoid doing before and while you are hunting. The first thing you should take into consideration is what you wear and how you smell before a hunt. If you are hunting in a treestand or walking through the woods than a good idea would be to wear camouflage so that you blend into the woods and the trees. Another bad habit most hunter have is there scent. Believe it or not taking a shower right before a hunt can be a very bad idea. The soaps and gels you use can carry a avid scent to deer that will make then run away. Another thing to stay away from is cologne. We all know how strong cologne is and deer have a very sensitive sense of smell.
While you are hunting, especially in a tree stand or sitting still, you should always be as silent as possible. All it takes is a cough to hear tons of deer running away from you. Make sure to leave all electronics, that could possible make noise, behind.
The saying “The longer you hunt, the better chances you have” is overrated. I personally never hunt mid-day. Most experienced hunters will tell you that hunting mid-day can be a big waste of time. Most expert hunters will be in there designated spot before sunset. Then they will depart 2 or 3 hours after sunset and come back close to 2 or 3 hours before nightfall. Sunset and nightfall are usually where all the action happens.
