Banner Advertising: News Of Its Demise Is Premature

You have seen them all over the internet — blinking, flashing, animated and garish. You vow that you will not contribute to this internet graffiti. You feel smug with your decision because after all banner advertising is dead.

Wrong. Banner advertising is not dead — and in fact it is still an effective internet marketing tool. However banner advertising has evolved — or rather I should say successful banner advertising has evolved. Some of the horrible eye-damaging banner ads still exist but successful, knowledgable internet entrepreneurs have long abandoned those marketing efforts and instead concentrated on targeted, tasteful, and trim banner ads.

Avoid Scammers

The scammers that send these fraud letters are criminals. They want your money, and they use force to get it, if that is necessary. Secret Service has a warning on that here. I found such stories hard to believe until I recently was contacted by a friend. One of his friends, let me call her S, was killed in Lagos, Nigeria when she was trying to help a “dying man”, that had contacted her.

This is what my friend told me:

Keeping Chaos At Bay - Cleaning Up And Clearing Out The Old Email Backlog In Your Inbox

People have more email than they can possibly deal with–and it ends up just sitting in their inboxes, even after they have dealt with it. Believe it or not, email inboxes should be empty! Here are some ideas to start moving toward that goal. (Note: The ideas will work for all programs, although the keystrokes are for MS Outlook).

It’s best to print this article for easy reference.

In an earlier article, I had you:

  • Set aside “Cleaning up/clearing out” time for this project.
  • Start with the “Deleted Items” folder and delete anything older than 6 months and (I hope) even more than that.

4 Simple Do-it-yourself Solutions To Spam Email

If you are as sick and tired of spam showing up in your email and don’t want to spend a lot of dollars or do the programming for anti-spam programs, here are 4 easy and free suggestions to nearly eliminate the problem.

1. Never use just your first name, if it is common, for a moniker. Using mary@ or mark@ is like low hanging fruit to a spammer. They will mine for domains and then just pound them for the common names and see which ones don’t bounce. If they get through, grab your shorts because they will not stop, ever. They’ll even sell their success list to other spammers and the pile will then grow.

A Timely “no” Beats A Mysterious “maybe” Every Time

Lots of people fear rejection, and of course this afflicts salespeople, too.

For this reason, some sellers are afraid to close, which is directly asking for assent, and others fear calling back and following-up because they’re concerned they’ll seem too impatient and aggressive and this will spoil a deal that may have ripened with time.

But I believe it is exceedingly helpful to drive each prospect to a commitment one way or another and the sooner the better!

Just today, I exchanged email with a prospect who said he was going to take 4-6 weeks to
approve my deal because he wants to do some research.
