Here are 4 tips for healing after divorce.
First, Healing takes time. It is a process, it is not an event. Allow time be your friend. The key is to allow healing to happen each day, a little at a time. Do the things you know will allow healing to flow unhindered. Keep putting one foot in front of the other.
Second, There will be ups and downs. Yes, it’s great to be upbeat and positive. But let’s be real. you will be down at times. You are human, and this is part of the healing process. When you are down, make the choice to get back up. Don’t get frustrated with yourself, it happens to everybody. Make it a habit to be up more then you are down. You will see that the more you are aware of the up or down cycle, the more healing will flow.
Third, Allow closure to happen. It’s not a sinking ship, it is sunk. It’s time to move on. It’s not pleasant or easy. It’s time to let it go, along with all the baggage. This is where healing moves at mach ll. Allow the past to be in the past. That may mean letting go of people that hinder healing, a job or even move to a new place to get a fresh start. It’s time to close that chapter out.
Fourth, Open your life to others. Once you close the door on that chapter of life and leave it behind you. It’s time to open the door to a new chapter. It’s time to be open to meeting people, doing activities with people, getting out in the community. I know it’s not easy and there are trust issues but, this will allow healing to flow unhindered. The key is to get started, then keep it going.
